2021, The Packington Housing Estate, London

This body of work was made during an Artist research residency on The Packington Housing Estate in Angel, London. The work was exhibited in the Estate's exhibition 'Reverberations'.

During this residency I focused on the clay found beneath The Packington Estate and began thinking about that clay as a conduit back to the steamy swamps and tropical seas beneath which London lay 50 million years ago when the clay was formed. I looked at animal and botanical fossils found in the London clay to inspire new ceramic forms and glaze surfaces whilst thinking about deep time, the rock cycle and compression, along with looking at geological maps.
